First let me say "thanks" to everyone that posted comments on my new blog. You're all too kind, well, except for one yahoo that wanted to know if I was married.
CAJALCO ROAD CONSTRUCTION
The road construction on Cajalco Rd. is playing havoc with open houses and getting potential buyers into the area to view the homes for sale. We're meeting buyers at other locations, getting them a "pass" then taking them to see homes they are interested in.
THE REST OF THE STORY
Around October of 1997 we went to look at an Arabian mare in Mira Loma (CA). She was older, about 19 or 20 they said, and was the perfect color - grey. From the minute I saw her and touched her I knew that this was "MY" horse. Nothing really specific, but somehow I just knew - there was this feeling. We made the decision to buy her on the spot, based on a vet check. I had to do my usual travel thing and was going to be gone for nearly two weeks so my husband took care of the vet check details. She (they called her Misty) vetted out fine and I became an Arabian horse owner. Part of the problem was we didn't have any corrals or barn yet so we had the folks keep Misty for a couple more weeks. Not to be outdone, my husband goes to an Arabian racehorse auction at the Pomona Fairgrounds the following Sunday. The auction was the 2nd Annual, Lang Park Arabian Sale for race-bred two-year olds, three-year olds and broodmares. Hugh calls me on the phone, all excited, chattering a 100 words a minute. "I walked by this stall, looked over at this bay filly, she had a small cut on her face and a great big blaze. She just looked at me and said, 'Take me home'." I knew exactly where he was coming from; he'd been bitten by the "Arabian" horse bug and loved it. We now have two horses and no corrals. Our new barn won't be done for another three weeks or more so Hugh orders a couple of 24'x24' pipe corrals. It all worked out fine. The folks we bought Misty from were happy to keep her for us and Roger Lang, the great man he is, took Hugh's new purchase (LP Arzela) back to his ranch in Fallbrook. We got the pipe corrals set up, and had our new horses picked up and delivered (we didn't have a trailer yet). We've had a great time with the Arabians. Had eleven at one time, down to seven now. We won a couple Class A Halter shows with Mayyaar (who now lives on a huge ranch in Montana), showed at the Scottsdale Nationals with Hey Bailey and raced horses at Los Alamitos, which was a great thrill (and another story). We bred a few, sold a few and lost a few. So, what is the real story about my being totally attracted to Misty and why I felt the "connection" was so strong? Come to find out, a couple months after buying her (they didn't have her paperwork at the time and didn't know exactly how old she was), we share the same birth date - February 19th.
Until next time. Thanks for visiting.
